Synopsis
*The Continuing Education of English Teachers of the Public Network in the ESP Approach Applied to Reading in Concórdia do Pará* presents a comprehensive investigation into the continuing professional development of English teachers in Brazilian public schools, with a specific focus on the principles of English for Specific Purposes (ESP). Drawing on qualitative research and grounded in contemporary theories of teacher education, Cirne dos Reis Miranda examines structural gaps in teacher preparation, persistent misconceptions about the ESP framework, and the pedagogical challenges of teaching reading in public education. By integrating theoretical analysis with empirical findings, this work contributes to the academic debate on language teaching and offers evidence-based recommendations for policymakers, teacher educators, and researchers committed to enhancing English language education in Brazil and similar contexts.
